History in Action

Knowing the power in being able to touch the historical artifacts that one is studying, our history teacher, Mr. Carron, coordinated for a local historian to bring in his private collection.​

Goal: ​

Help students to better comprehend history by seeing, touching and talking about the tools used during the Revolutionary War.​

What did students learn:​

• What equipment and weapons were prevalent during the revolutionary war​

• The feel, function and weight of those tools and weapons​

How did they learn:​

• Interacting with a local historian​

• Touching, carrying and exploring replicas of revolutionary weapons and equipment​

• Firing a musket!​

Bottom Line:​

When we get the chance, we bring books to life………….including firing a real musket during class time!​
