ATHLETICS
Capodanno offers students the opportunity to play various sports while learning the benefits of working as a team, building strong character, and exhibiting a unified sense of community. Our grunt athletes take away meaningful life skills and lessons from their time on the field, court, pool and track.
Capodanno’s sports program is offered during three seasons; Fall, Winter, and Spring. All students are encouraged to participate, regardless of experience. We currently offer Cross Country, Boys Football, Girls Volleyball, Basketball, Track and Field, and Co-ed Shooting Team.
Before a student can participate in a sport, he/she must have completed a sports physical.
You can catch game updates by following @capodannohigh on Facebook or Instagram.
“Sports are an efficacious antidote against a soft and easy life; they awaken a sense of order; they serve as a test for endurance and a mastery of one’s self, as well as imparting courage without empty show or cowardice.” - Pope Pius XII

The Grunts have an established Track & Field program with a strong showing, multiple school records, and dozens of PRs in running, jumping, and throwing events. Through hard work, grit, joy, teamwork, and rich character, the Grunts have come a long way quickly in this respectable co-ed program. Many of the Grunt trackletes are multi-sport athletes and train hard in the off season.
The Track & Field season will kick off in mid-February and will run through the end of April.
The Grunts are coached by Coach Joshe Raetz, Coach Bill Smith, and Coach Julia Graves. For more information please contact Coach Joshe Raetz.

SPRING SEASON
GIRLS SOCCER
The Grunts launched their first Girls Soccer program in 2026 and built a strong foundation through determination, teamwork, and a shared love of the game. With a full schedule, the team quickly grew in skill and confidence as they competed and represented the school with pride. Through hard work, resilience, and a positive spirit, the athletes set a tone for what promises to be a thriving program for years to come.
The Grunts are coached by Coach Joshua Klotz. For more information please contact Coach Joshua Klotz.

SPRING SEASON
SHOOTING TEAM
The Grunts eagerly started a competitive Shooting Team in 2025. This unique program is built on discipline, focus, responsibility, and respect, offering students the opportunity to develop precision skills while competing in a structured and safety-focused environment. In its first year, the team set a strong foundation with athletes demonstrating commitment, steady growth, and a strong sense of camaraderie. The team competed in local, regional, and state level clay trap, archery, and long rifle competitions.
The program was boosted by a grant from the NRA Foundation, which provided essential equipment to help get students started and ensure safe, accessible participation for all team members.
The multi discipline Shooting Team trains informally in the offseason and will begin structured practices in September. This effort runs for two seasons through May.
The Grunts are coached by Dean Unger and Curtis DeBruhl. For more information please contact Coach Dean Unger.
